Right idea, Wrong time

Do you want to hear funny a funny story as to why not to sew when tired. Decided to stitch an applique picture that had been fused onto a picture... ironed some stabiliser onto the back, put it on the sewing machine table get set up and sew. Finish sewing.

Turn the peice ove to remove stabiliser and find that I have sewn an A4 peice of paper onto the back of the applique picture, the paper was folded in half!! I am now trying to remove said A4 paper...., knew I should have stayed in bed!!!

Heaven Sent

I love the post man. Well at least I do when he is bearing gifts and not bills.

My door bell went ding dong this morning and in amongst the children yelling and the dogs barking I managed to fight my way to the front door. One foot holding the puppy back, the other foot holding the fly screen open, one hand stopping children from rushing out the door, the other hand retrieving the parcel from the door step.

I got a pressie, I got a pressie. Ignoring the fact that we are going to be late for school yet again I open my parcel. OOOOOhhh two gifts, one long and narrow the other squarish (is that a word??).

The long one first. A beautiful beaded necklace blue, green in colour. Plus Freddo frogs....mmmm chocolate. The second parcel an absolutley wonderful scarf also in blue green colourway. It looks as though it has been woven not knitted. I will have to ask my angel, as that is where my gifts have come from, Lacey the angel from the Perth rereat Angel Mortal swap. I think her name begins with B. I have three cards and on each card there are letters on the very bottom placed, I suspect, not very randomly.
Who ever you are Lacey I thank you with all my heart. I look forward to meeting you in a little over 1 Month.

Sewing Machine Melt down

My poor sewing machine, I think it is going to go into melt down mode. It got use again last night for the 2nd time in a matter of days, poor thing is not used to being turned on sew much!!!! I completed my March blocks for Applewood.com. I also completed February's blocks one night when I could not sleep as you do. I am enjoying this BOM even thought my pinwheel block has a lot of bias edges. @#$%@ bias edges, mine normally tend to walk and that is not nice.

My first big quilt I made had triangles with bias edges as the block were on point, oh I cried so much, asking myself why I bothered. Now here I am 5 years on still cursing edges with bias but not crying. I am a big girl now??

Retreat committe had a meeting yesterday and we are well on the way to our retreat in May, which I have been told by our friend Lissa that it is just over a month. No nail bitting for any of us, all is going well. Touch wood, we are getting there and then as they say the rest in the hand of the gods.

The renos are still underway, the wall is up, we now need base coat it, fill up the joins then we can get ready to paint. Then I can get my home back into order.

Mind Blank-Senility Moment

You know when you have a lot to do you tend to forget things. I had gone out late night shopping with DS due to the fact that he wanted to buy his sister a birthday gift. We went shopping, stopped to have coffee and donuts. Then a light bulb moment....ohhhhh I was supposed to be meeting some of the girls from work for dinner for a birthday. I had already had tea with the family. OOPS. Ring the birthday girl and they are only just sitting down to eat. Race home drop the boy off and meet the girls for a drink.

I can't believe I forgot, a chance to go out, not have to cook dinner.....talk about early senility. Going to bed for a nanny nap.

I actually used the sewing machine!!!

I got creative today, better than cleaning the house. I managed to make a chocolate cake ready for family coming tomorrow night for DD 7 birthday. Actual birthday is on Monday.
My friends daughter is turning 9 tomorrow, all these late March babies!! So I made a raggy quilt, my first one. Nice and pink and girlie. I just hope she likes it.
I might actually get to the machine tomorrow too, but we won't hold the breath

Quote of the day for me

"I am not in this world to live up to other people's expectations, nor do I feel that the world must live up to mine."

Fritz Perls

Easter Get away

We went to Kalgoorlie for the weekend, just two nights. We only had to have 4 stops along the way just for petrol and wee breaks, because of course nobody needed to relieve themselves at the same time!!!

Friday afternoon we went to the Super Pit and VERY big hole in the ground, see if you can pick out the trucks in the pit!!!

Saturday we went to the miners hall of fame to do the tour of an underground mine. The mine was only 38m underground but the coolness you felt going down was incredible 15 degree difference at least and I think if it had been a 40 degree day that would have been higher. When they turned out the lights it was a new version of dark I would not like to be caught in.

The trip home on Sunday took over 9hrs. There was a truck roll over on the Great Eastern Highway that caused the road to be closed for at least 2.5 hrs. We detoured around the back way which in fact turned out to the same time frame if we had waited at the road block! But with that road you never know, last time it was shut due to a bush fire it remained closed for 10 days. You make the best decision at the time!

I actually managed to get some sewing done I finished block #3 in my Capricorn BOM.
